Dear Colleagues,
NAPW has long been established as a major biennial conference on the topics of productivity, eciency and performance analysis. Following the successful NAPW X, we expect a large and diverse body of participants to attend NAPW XI in Miami. This year’s theme is especially important to the Miami Business School, Sustainable Productivity. Sustainable productivity encapsulates enduring growth and process improvements, a healthy workforce and surrounding operational environment, a regular ow of new ideas and innovations, and an unwavering optimism about the direction of the rm. The school recently launched the only STEM certi ed Masters in Sustainable Business and the Miami Business School is the only academic building in the state of Florida to have achieved LEED Gold certi cation. Submission for presentation on all areas related to the measurement, assessment and character of sustainable productivity are invited. Submissions on the theory and application of economics, econometrics, statistics, anagement science and operational research related to problems in the areas of productivity and efficiency measurement more broadly are highly encouraged. Our aim is to have a conference program that features all popular techniques and methodologies within the eld, including stochastic frontier analysis and data envelopment analysis. We also welcome papers on broader issues related to measuring, understanding, incentivizing and improving the productivity and performance of rms, public services, and industries.

On behalf of the scienti c committee, we look forward to welcoming all participants of NAPW XI to Miami this upcoming June.

Operations Research and the Management Sciences (Informs) Annual conference, October 20-23, 2019 in Seattle, Washington.

Dear colleagues:

I am writing you to invite you to the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (Informs) Annual conference that will be held from October 20-23, 2019 in Seattle, Washington.  This conference brings together multiple disciplines include Business, Engineering, Economics, among others. I am organizing the Productivity and Data Envelopment Analysis Track whose attendees are broadly interested production economics, both deterministic and stochastic approaches.

http://meetings2.informs.org/wordpress/seattle2019/

I would like to invite you to submit an abstract to one of these sessions. For some of you, your positive response in the past has helped Andy Johnson to organize some very good sessions. I hope you have enjoyed the sessions. For others I would like to invite you to join for the first time.

I am organizing similar sessions in Seattle.

If you plan to submit an abstract to this track, please provide me your name, email address and a tentative title of the presentation. I will then send you a formal invitation through the conference system and instructions for you to submit the abstract. Please email me your response by Monday, May 5th.

Notice that you have to respond very quickly! I contacted Informs 3 weeks ago, because I was surprised that I have received no request for organizing sessions within Productivity and Data Envelopment Analysis Track for 2019. I have to day (April 22nd) received an email requesting me to try and organize such a cluster, but with the requirement, that I invite session chairs before May 5th. In other words, you have to respond very quickly. When you receive a formal invitation through the conference system and instructions for you to submit the abstract then notice that the deadline for submitting the abstract is May 15th!!!

I look forward to a positive response. My apologizes for cross-postings.

Two-day course on Productivity and Efficiency Analysis Using R, May 2019, Queensland

The Centre for Efficiency and Productivity Analysis (CEPA) at the University of Queensland invites you to attend a two-day intensive course on Productivity and Efficiency Analysis Using R.  The course will focus on measures of productivity and efficiency that are of practical relevance to policymakers.  Unlike many courses in productivity and efficiency analysis, this course will teach participants how to measure productivity change in ways that are consistent with measurement theory.  Participants will then learn how piecewise frontier models (PFMs), deterministic frontier models (DFMs) and stochastic frontier models (SFMs) can be used to explain variations in productivity.  Finally, participants will get hands-on experience analyzing productivity change using R.

Date: Saturday 4 May – Sunday 5 May 2019
Time: 8.30am for a 9.00am start to 6.00pm
Location: Room 113, Chamberlain Building (35) UQ St Lucia
Presenter: Professor Chris O’Donnell
Cost: $1000 (inc GST) standard fee. $600 (inc GST) full-time students.  The cost includes lunches, refreshments and a copy of Professor O’Donnell’s new book, Productivity and Efficiency Analysis: An economic Approach to Measuring and Explaining Managerial Performance.

I hope you can join us for this exciting course.  Limited places are available, so you are advised to book early.  Please forward this email to anyone you think might be interested.  Any enquiries should be directed to c.odonnell@economics.uq.edu.au.
